The leading and most popular show, ‘The Funniest Person in the World’ is the leading title and two Pakistani comics will attend this show. Both the comedians are Dubai based and the comedian, Salman Qureshi of Racy Desi and other is Umar Ranar of Comedy Masala and both the comedians are shortlisted for the biannual Laugh Factory global competition. There were some leading and most popular comedians like Russell Peters, Jim Carey, Jerry Seinfeld and Eddie Murphy have performed at the platform of ‘The Laugh Factory’.
The names of these two comedians were in the top 20 and they sent their videos having three minutes separately. They were declared eligible and they were contacted by The Laugh Factory and they were asked to represent UAE but they insisted that they will represent Pakistan in this competition. Salman said that he started his comedy career eight years before. He tried his luck in banking and oil and gas companies but he was failed in all industries. Then he started comedy after watching Saad Haroon in Dubai. He got the opportunity to work with him last year in Karachi. Haroon remained the second funniest person in the world title in the Laugh Factory Competition last year.
He further added that the comedy scene is growing rapidly in Dubai and they started from the grass root level. Dubai is the most suitable venue for comedy and there are more leniencies in Dubai to talk about any person or thing, on which you want to talk. He started his comedy on the basis of his observation, life in the city and also the personal anecdotes. He links his comedy with what is going on in the world and the popular culture. He also conducts the comedy classes in Dubai and he has the stand up structure and one can teach it and one can develop how to look the world and express themselves. Anyone can do the stand-up and fight the myth that they should be funny so that they can become successful standup comedian.
He continued his standup shows and provides the sketches with Racy Desi and it is hoped to lock this big title. The online voting is started and it will be continued till 01 October and the 10 finalists will participate in this competition and they will grab $100,000 prize at the event, which is being celebrated in Finland. Salman Qureshi hopes to return to Karachi till the end of the year and he plans to bring the Dubai based troupe.
